A win for retirement security
The votes are in! Trudy Williams (AFSCME) and John Piechocinski (IEA) won seats on the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) Board of Trustees, and AFSCME retiree Sharon Thompson was reelected as an IMRF Annuitant Trustee. The results will be formally certified on December 18.
IMRF participants include anyone who works for or retired from Illinois any municipality, county, school district or other unit of local government except the City of Chicago or Cook County. It is the most financially sound public pension system in the state.
By voting together, we were able to ensure that workers will continue to have a strong voice on the IMRF board. These three advocates will do their utmost to assure that it remains strong and solvent so that current and future retirees can count on security and dignity in retirement.
