President Obama endorses Hillary Clinton for President

President Barack Obama endorsed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for President of the United States in this video on June 9, 2016.

AFSCME Pres. Lee Saunders congratulated Sec. Hillary Clinton on becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee for president and called for unity in electing a champion for working families this November.

“Throughout this campaign, Secretary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders have made the concerns of working families their top priority,” Saunders said. “After months of passionate debate, voters have chosen Secretary Clinton. Now is the time to unite for working families.”

AFSCME endorsed Clinton for President in October of last year. The International Executive Board voted based on feedback collected from union members over the previous six months, including polling data showing nearly two thirds of supported Hillary Clinton.

Saunders stressed that the choice between Secretary Clinton and Donald Trump could not be clearer, pointing out that Trump thinks that American wages are too high and has called for gutting workers’ rights on the job, while Clinton had a record in the U.S. Senate of strong support on issues of importance to working families.
