Child care needs during COVID-19 crisis

Many public service workers need help in caring for their children at this critical time.

For as long as the COVID-19 public health emergency continues, emergency child care will be available to “essential workers” (as identified in Gov. Pritzker’s Executive Order 10). These emergency child care sites—in both homes and centers—will be the only child care legally allowed to operate during the COVID-19 State of Emergency.

If you need child care and you are not considered an "essential" employee per EO-10, you may be eligible for special leave pursuant to the new Families First act.
